Doctor-y stuff.

So, I just got back from the ear/nose/throat doctor. He didn't have much to say - it was too late to see the symptoms again, although he did take a look at the cut-up mess left over after the blisters burst and whatnot, and he said it was "rather traumatic, actually." You know how you can't wait to eat your pizza and then burn the roof of your mouth, and it gets all blistery and tender? That's what it was like to start with. And then, say, you had nachoes and pretzel sticks and tore the blisters to shreds - well, that's what it's like now. He says it’s either viral or auto-immune something or other (which I’ve been saying ALL ALONG because it shows up when I stop eating anything of nutritional value); but he can’t tell yet. So, the next time the “eruption” happens again, I’m to call immediately and they’ll do a punch biopsy within 24 hours.

And, I asked him a favour, and he granted it: he got his secretary to call in a referral for my knee to the orthopaedic surgeon I’d seen before. I’m glad, and I know Kevin will be too, because while the pain and tenderness and cautiousness surrounding my knee is something I’ve gotten used to, to him it’s extremely Not Right, and he’s felt for a long time that Something Must Be Done. And when I look at it from an outside view, I realize he’s right.

Speaking of nutritional value, I fell off the wagon again. Sigh. This time, I bought healthy foods and pulled up my bootstraps that way; but I’ve also got one-a-day ‘women’s formula’ vitamins. I have to cut them up into 3 pieces to get them down, but I’m sick and tired of that damned cliché.
