i have a giant bag of velvets and tapestries and whatnot that were partly my grandmother's, and i have my grandfather's ties, and I have a pile of cool vintage embroidery stitch instructions for making a crazy quilt-type thing, and I have a near-irresistable urge to pull it all out and start stitching, but there are two other things I have that are preventing me: I have no clue what on earth to make, and I have a complete and utter fear of ruining these precious artifacts.
I took a pile of pictures of the fabrics; when I get home, I'll take some of the ties and post it all. Maybe someone can tell me what to make, and tell me I won't destroy it all when I start cutting.
Edit:
And here they are!

The bag of fabric from my aunt, a lot of which was from my grandmother's scrap bag. A lot of these pieces I recognize from the crazy quilt she made that everybody covets in my family. Now I can make my own!

Some of my favourite pieces.

More samples.

More favourites!

These are all of my grandfather's ties.
I have got to remember to use my tripod.

Aren't they all gorgeous? I can't wait to do something with this.
