An interesting exchange just went on in the office. I went into a coworker's office just as he was joking, “The Hate keeps me warm!” to another coworker. I asked what he hated, and he said, “People who send me dirty spam.” I agreed, and he showed me what he meant: Actually Dirty Spam, porn at its disgustingest, pictures of the money shot and all. I gagged and left the room.

There was more joking that he’d have to set up a shortcut to that so he could get rid of visitors when he didn’t feel like having any. I said, “Blech! I mean, I don’t mind porn, but that was disgusting.” More joking went on “In some cultures, that’s how they reproduce, through the pores in the face!” And second coworker asked, “So what kind of porn do you like, Gayle?” acting the lascivious old man. I poked fun at him for being a dirty old man, but then answered seriously with something like, “the stuff that’s not disgusting or degrading." He replied, "Well, that’s not porn, that’s entertainment. I consider the stuff that’s degrading to women or that has children or is disgusting or whatever, Porn, and everything else is Entertainment.”

I was stopped dead. That’s a perspective I’d never thought of before. I actually kind of like it. The more I think of it, the more sense it makes.
