Sparked by a post on a friend's journal. He refuses to believe that his life is predestined. I do and don't agree. My own theory is just that, a theory (see below). Nobody can prove any of this. But here ya go anyway.
My theory on predestination: there are many paths, with many forks, with choices at each fork, and there are many destinations along each path - some are at crossroads, some are not.
You will come across some of these, and you will not come across others. Some you will come to no matter which paths you took to get there, because they are at the crossroads. Those others you come across are Meant To Be due to the choices you have made at each fork. Those you miss are not meant to be because of an earlier choice you made that steered you away from the paths they fall upon. If you choose to leave the path entirely, perhaps anything will happen - but whatever happens is still rooted at the choice to leave the path.
As far as God.. I believe there is a force "out there" but whether it's a being, a lake of energy, or the collective energy of the universe and/or its beings, I don't know. Maybe it's all of these. I just know that if I surrender to the path I'm on - and I've chosen to be on this path - life is peaches and cream. Who's to say if I created the path, or a God did, or if it was always there?
So it seems as though I believe that we predetermine what our lives will be like with each choice we make.
