
I don’t know. It’s so cliched. But maybe it’s a cliche for a reason. Why not use this day, the first day of a brand new year, to start a life change?
I just pulled out my list of Things to Do and See and Learn (even if only to strive for: Strive). It’s something I wrote a while ago, and never looked at since. Way to go. So here’s my list, with a few bits added.
Edit the NaNoWriMo novel. Find a real plot. Refine the dialogue. Cut out descriptions.Read “45 Master Characters: Mythic Models for Creating Original Characters” and “ How to Tell a Story: The Secrets of Writing Captivating Tales.”
Plot & write a new book every November.
Read some / many / all of:
Mark Twain
Edgar Allan Poe (only a few)
Oscar Wilde
Dostoyevsky
Pasternak
Chaucer (Half finished)
Dickens (Pickwick Papers: halfway done!)
Milton (Paradise Lost: Check! Lots of poems: Check!)
Shakespeare (halfway there!)Buy & Read a Style Guide (done!)
Learn to dissect a sentence. For real.
Read Micropedias: British, Civilizations, History.
Re-learn and practice SLR Photography.
Paint. Something. Anything.
Get 3dsmax running at home, even if the license is exported on the weekends. Practice 3d modelling. Practice animating rigs.

Paris
Caribbean
Amsterdam
Ireland
WalesKeep learning Design.
Sew own clothes.
Go to NSCAD.
Live Somewhere Else.
Get healthy. Lose weight.
Watch less tv.
Make more Jewellery.
Start a business selling any or all of the creative things I can do.
Do physio for knee, so it's finally fixed.
Make and keep new friends.
Start or Join a group that does stuff - to learn and to meet people.
Learn CSS. Learn ASP. Learn Databases.
So that’s my life list. It’s not a new year resolution, it’s a new life resolution. It’s not finished. But it’s a start.
