So let’s see. Since the first of the month - of the year - I’ve done my pilates and my knee exercises every day except for this past Saturday. I’ve washed every single dish I dirtied (with the exception of a couple, also on Saturday, when I wasn’t in much condition to be paying attention to such things). I’ve done my laundry and gotten the garbage out.
I checked out some continuing education - there’s not much I’m interested in that is also available in my time slots, which kind of sucks, but at least I’m looking, right? There’s a knitting course that would be fun, except it’s at 3 in the afternoon, and I’m working then. I looked into a Photography course at the community college, as well as a pile of Fine Arts, English and Philosophy courses at the university. My aunt just turned 65, which means she can go to university for free, so maybe we’ll take something together. You never know!
I’m not interested in gaining another degree, really, not even slowly. I think I’d just audit courses for the sake of learning itself. The idea of going to NSCAD is still dear to my heart, and it’s not too far from the front burner these days, either. We shall see.
While tooling around in the local crappy mall, I found a fantastic deal on some gemstones - mostly delicious tiger eye - yellow, blue, mixed, and red - but also a lot of jasper, rose quartz, various agate including lace, and carnelian. It was such a good deal, I went back and bought more the next day. I now have 125 minus 2 pendant-ready pieces. Minus two, because those two are already completed pendants.
And just now, I ordered a stack of wire - like, 700ft of it - to be sent directly to my house, along with some new nylon-covered tools to help out my dinged-up metal ones. It’s an investment of about $100 - an investment, not a splurge, because dammit, it’s well past the time when I should be making money with my talent. I’ve just decided that by my birthday (March 1), I will have a sizable stock of necklaces and earrings ready to sell. And because vague goals never get realized, I will decide on the fly that ‘sizable’ means... oh, let’s say 75 pieces. That’s doable in a month and a half.
And my birthday present to me will be.. Me, back on track and loving myself!
